Abstract

1347967 Turf-piercing machines SISIS EQUIPMENT (MACCLESFIELD) Ltd 14 June 1971 [12 March 1970] 11812/70 Heading A1B A turf-piercing machine carries a plurality of piercing plungers 20 pivotally mounted at their upper ends to links 22 pivoted to frame 10. Resilient means e.g. springs 24 urge the plungers forwardly against stops 18 which may be in the form of rubber-covered rollers 18. Links 22 may be raised or lowered by eccentric cams 26 carrying straps 27 attached to the links at 28, the cams being rotated on a shaft 25 driven via chains 29, 29b and shaft 29a from wheel shaft 14, the wheels 11 being driven by belt 30 from pulley 19a of an internal combustion engine 19. Lever 35 operates a jockey wheel 31 to disengage the engine drive. The arrangement is such that each plunger is given a forward kicking action on release from the ground by its pivotal movement about its connection to the link which acts as a "knee" joint. Wheels 11 may be connected to shaft 14 via a pawl and mechanism 13 and a pivotable plate 42 carrying a forward roller 40 may be pivoted to adjust the piercing depth by disengaging a pin 46 from a curved apertured plate 44 on frame 10 by means of handle 47 and replacing it in another aperture.
