Abstract
1346752 Transferring developed electrographic images EASTMAN KODAK CO 23 March 1972 [29 March 1971] 13618/72 Heading B6C [Also in Division G2] A method of transferring an electrographic image which has been developed with a liquid developer comprising a hydrophobic carrier liquid from an image-bearing surface to a receiving sheet comprising a hydrophilic swellable receiving layer carried on an electrically insulating support, comprises moistening the receiving layer to cause it to swell and to increase the electrical conductivity thereof, bringing the image bearing surface (still wet with carrier liquid) and the moistened receiving layer into face to face contact and during such contact electrically biasing the system to effect migration of the developed image. The biasing may be effected by connecting the receiving layer to a potential source or by electrostatically charging the image-bearing surface prior to the contacting. The receiving layer may be chosen from gelatine (e.g. the gelatine layer of an exposed and developed silver halide photographic film), proteins, polysaccharides, polyvinyl compounds and acrylamide polymers. The moistening liquid may be water or an alcohol having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms.
