Abstract
1346168 Vessd with fluid distributor ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 19 April 1971 [23 March 1970] 13875/70 Heading B1F [Also in Division F4] A vessel 11, Fig. 1 has a fluid distributor 10 which comprises a manifold 12 having an inlet or inlets 13 for fluid, a plurality of tubes 14 each attached at one end to the manifold 12 and extending across the vessel, at least part of the length of each tube within the vessel being provided with a plurality of lines of apertures 15, Fig. 3, through the wall of the tube on the underside thereof. If the tube is of square or rectangular cross section the apertures may be in the upright sides. The apertures increase, in size with increasing distance from the manifold. The arrangement of apertures prevents them being blocked when passing fluid into particulate solid material and provides for a good number of apertures whilst accomodating for expected thermal and/ or mechanical stress. The vessel may be a lime kiln and have two such distributors where the distributors feed fuel and oxygen, or the vessel may contain fluidizable chemically or catalytically active solids for the process of absorbing sulphur compounds from hydrogen fuel e.g. as disclosed in Specification Nos. 1183937 or 1336563.
