1342145 Pile fabrics KIEVSKOE TSENTRALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOTEKHNOLOGICHESKDE BJURO MINISTERSTVA MESTNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI UKRAINSKOI SSR 16 Dec 1971 [21 Dec 1970 (2)] 58410/71 Heading D1K [Also in Division B5] A method of manufacturing a fur material comprises slicing one of the underlayers off fur scraps, cutting the scraps into pieces, orientating them electrostatically, and feeding them onto a backing material 30 which has been previously coated with adhesive. The layer of underskin is removed by a knife 9 and scraps 3 are sliced longitudinally by rotating cutters 8 but still remain as one piece due to interlocking of the fur hairs, and are fed along a conveyor 11 and further slide transverse to the first set of cuts by blades 12. Rubber coated and fluted rollers 18 and 23 then break up the scraps into pieces 24 which are fed along a series of conveyors 25, 27 and 28 which have an electrostatic field applied vertically to them to orientate the fur, and then are fed down a shute 29 onto the backing 31. The underside may be coated with adhesive and sprayed with finely chopped particles of the removed underskin to imitate the natural flesh side of a fur. The backing material 30 may comprise netting, continuous warp threads or polymer film.
