Abstract
1341790 Hair treatment devices E FAVA 18 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 2312/72 Heading A5R A hair treating device comprises a helmet 1 having an inflatable seal 2 along its edge and a water collecting channel 4 with a drain hole 5, a perforated mask 6 secured within the helmet, an arcuate elongate channel element 8 having its free edges positioned closely adjacent the outer surface of the mask 6 and being mounted for rotational movement about a fixed axis in the helmet, means for connecting the channel to a liquid supply under pressure and means for reciprocating the channel element 8 about said axis, the device further comprising a tube 22 at the rear lower portion of the helmet having a plurality of holes 23 directed towards the central portion of the helmet 1 and being provided with means for connecting it to a liquid supply, the tube 22 being carried on a rigid arm manually rotatable about a fixed axis in the helmet, which may be coincident with the first mentioned axis, and capable of being locked in a fixed position. A hole 13, 14 is provided in each of the two sides of the channel element 8. A lever is provided on the channel element, this lever being rotatable between two stable positions whereby in each of these positions one of two arms 16, 17 of the lever closes one of the holes 13 or 14, the arms being provided with rubber stoppers for this purpose. Water under pressure entering the channel element 8 issues in a jet from the open hole (13 in Fig. 1) and as a result of reactionary forces moves the element 8 across the head of the user. An extension 15 of the lever abuts stops 20, 21 at the ends of the travels of the channel element to place the lever in the other stable position and reverse the direction of movement of the element 8. The stops 20, 21 may be adjustable in position. Alternatively, an electric motor or other mechanical means may be provided for reciprocating the channel element 8.
