Abstract

1,236,644. Feeding sheets. H. JACOBS, H. BARON, and E. WINSTON. 11 June, 1968 [12 June, 1967], No. 27652/68. Heading B8R. A device for feeding workpieces of porous cloth from a pile 26 to automatic sewing apparatus comprises a pin 82A associated with suction means 82, and a feeder foot 70 housing a band 76 of adhesive material, the assembly moving in succession through the four positions shown, so that the front of a workpiece is first raised by the foot, then attracted to the suction means and engaged by the pin, and the workpiece is then moved sideways to feed rollers 78, 80. The pin is adjustable by a knob 82B. The preliminary lifting of the front edge may alternatively be by electrostatic or magnetic means (for cloth containing magnetic particles), or buckling by a backward pushing friction roller, or gripping with hooks. In another form, the adhesive is omitted and the suction device and pin is used alone. Workpieces can be similarly removed from the bottom or side of a pile.
