A tool arrangement for cultivators, e.g. for breaking up ground, crushing stones, digging, lifting and cleaning root crops or rolling and cutting turf, comprises a plurality of elongated implements 10, each implement having a free working end 40, said implements being parallel to one another and arranged side by side in a linear row and being driven so that their ends 40 each move in an oscillatory, non- linear, closed path by a drive means which is adjustable to vary the relative movement of the implements. The implements 10 may be mounted in a movable frame (not shown) with their ground engaging ends 40 disposed at the front of the cultivator, the implements being staggered in the longitudinal direction so that alternate implements form a first set 11 and a second set 12. Each implement has a cam follower bearing surface 23 and each implement of the second set 12 is longer than those of the first set and is provided with an opening (27), Fig. 3 (not shown), to allow the cams on a drive shaft 13a to engage the cam followers 23 of the first set 11 without affecting the drive of the second set which is by cams on a drive shaft 13b. The cams can be arranged at different relative positions on the shafts as required such that the implements 10 are driven either in unison or in a particular sequence. The relative positions of the shafts 13a, 13b which either rotate in the same or opposite senses at variable speeds may also be adjusted. Guide elements 26, adjustably fixed to each implement, each carry a bearing member 27a extending around a transverse guide bar 28 so as to control the movement of the rear parts of the implements. These elements form a vibrating table, e.g. for sifting soil, and back edges 30 of the implements act as buffer plates to displace soil and stones rearwardly over the guide elements 26 after being agitated by the ground engaging ends 40. The rearmost parts of the elements may be used to crush stones and clods.
