Abstract

1,233,056. Polarized bi-stable relays. OLIVER PELL CONTROL Ltd. 26 Aug., 1969 [18 June, 1968], No. 28901/68. Heading H1N. An electromagnetic bi-stable relay has a permanent magnet 22 between two polepieces 20, 24, one of which is connected to a core 26 surrounded by a coil 28 and the other polepiece 20 is connected to a yoke 18 on which a threelimbed armature 10, 12, 14, 16 is pivoted. Pulse energization of the coil 28 in opposition to the permanent magnet flux moves the armature from the position shown to a second position (Fig. 2, not shown) in which limb 14 of the armature engages polepieces 20, 24 and limbs 16 and 12 thereof are spaced from polepiece 20 and the lower end of the core 26 respectively. A changeover contact 38A is held by a finger 39 on the armature limb 14 to engage a fixed contact 38C in the position and is biased to move to engage a fixed contact 38B instead when the armature moves to its other stable position.
