Abstract

1,231,170. Benzo[b]thiophene derivatives. ASPRO - NICHOLAS Ltd., N. B. CHAPMAN, and K. CLARKE. 10 Dec., 1968, No. 23744/70. Divided out of 1,229,580. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] The invention comprises a benzo[b]thiophene which contains (a) in the 2-position, pyrrolidinomethyl, piperidinomethyl or morpholinomethyl, and (b) in the 5-position, H, halogen, alkoxy, alkyl, haloalkyl, carboxyl, carboxyalkyl, carboxyaryl, NO 2 , CN, NH-alkyl, haloalkylamino, acylamino (up to C 6 ), arylacylamino or aryloxyacylamino; and acid addition and quaternary ammonium derivatives thereof. These compounds are prepared by (i) reducing the corresponding 2-carbonyl compound, or (ii) reacting the corresponding 2-halomethyl compound with pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine. In specified compounds, the 5-substituent is Cl or Br.
