Abstract

1,229,666. Anchor bolts. H. LIEBIG. 25 Sept., 1968 [16 Dec., 1967], No. 45507/68. Heading F2H. An expansible fastening device comprises a sleeve 1 having an internal bore whose crosssection progressively decreases in one direction along the length of the bore at regions 6 spaced longitudinally of the bore, a spreader member 2, 5 for each region 6 and a component 3 for moving each member 2, 5 in said one direction so as to bring the members 2, 5 into engagement with the regions 6 of the sleeve 1 and to cause spreading of the sleeve 1. The sleeve 1 comprises a plurality of parallel tongues linked by breakable fillets and the spreader members 2, 5 which may be of frusto-conical shape for engagement with corresponding co-operating surfaces in the bore may be spaced by a tubular member 8 separate from or connected to at least one of the spreader members 2, 5. The spreader member 2 may engage the threaded end of a bolt 3 or may form or be acted upon by the head of a bolt having a shank provided at its free end extending from the sleeve with a nut. As shown, the head 4 of the bolt overlies a washer 7 bearing on one end of the sleeve 1.
