Abstract
1,229,078. Crank-shafts. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 15 Dec., 1969 [24 Dec., 1968], No. 61032/69. Heading F2U. A crank-shaft (e.g. for a four-stroke piston engine) has a crank-pin 2 formed with a recess 7 connected to a lubricating bore 6 in the crank-shaft and extending along at least half (preferably four-fifths) of the length of the crank-pin. The recess may comprise a flat on the pin having its axially extending edges rounded as at R and having a depth t not more than 2% of the crank-pin diameter. For rotation in the direction P the flat is located so that 60‹<A<80‹.
