Abstract
1,227,337. Valves. ALUMASC Ltd. 26 July, 1968 [10 Aug., 1967], No. 36669/67. Heading F2V. A manually operable valve, particularly suitable for dispensing beer with a desired froth head, comprises a valve member 5 which is axially movable in relation to a seating 4 formed at the junction of an inlet 2 and outlet 3, a non-rotatable plug 7 through which the valve member stem 6 extends and whose upper surface is formed with two differently inclined cam surfaces, (15, 17, Fig. 2, not shown), which surfaces extend outwardly from a low point (16) corresponding to the closed state of the valve, and a sleeve 12 which has its lower end formed with follower surfaces corresponding to the plug cam surfaces, rotation of the sleeve, as by handle 19, serving to lift the valve member from its seat 4, the speed with which such lifting is effected being determined by which of the two cam surfaces is engaged. In an alternative embodiment, (Fig. 3-5, not shown), the differently inclined cam surfaces and followers are formed on the top end of the rotatable sleeve and the undersurface of a washer respectively, the washer being carried, in a non-rotatable manner, on the stem end. In either embodiment, the valve is formed with a cap 24, removal of which permits access to all valve and component parts.
