Abstract
1,224,793. Ion-exchange. CRANE CO. 7 March, 1968, No. 11262/68. Heading B1J. A mixed bed of cation and anion exchangers is separated into two beds. The upper portion of the upper bed (anion) is regenerated with alkali and excess regenerant is removed. The lower portion of the bed (cation) is regenerated with acid and excess acid regenerant is removed. The cation exchanger is then regenerated with ammonia before mixing again for the demineralising process. The portions of the upper bed may remain in contact during regeneration.
