Abstract

1,224,316. Reciprocating pumps. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. April 19, 1968 [April 22, 1967], No. 18651/67. Heading F1A. [Also in Division F2]. A diaphragm 9 of a diaphragm pump is secured to a thrust shaft 6 which is reciprocated by the engagement of a roller 16, on a pin 14 carried by shaft 6, with a helical groove 18 in the wall of a rotary housing 1 secured to a shaft 4 of a driving electric motor 5. The pin 14 is slidably mounted in a blind bore 13 in the thrust shaft and is resiliently urged outwardly by a spring 19. The roller 16 is rotatably mounted on an axle 17 carried by a forked outer end of pin 14. A circumferential groove 20 is formed in the periphery of roller 16 to enable oil to penetrate between the roller 16 and the cam groove 18. In a modification, a frusto-conical roller in two parts 22, 24 engages opposite sides of a two-part cam groove 18 consisting of a radially outer part 23 and a radially inner part 22.
