1,223,589. Hardened gelatine. SOUTH AFRICAN INVENTIONS DEVELOPMENT CORP. 9 Dec., 1968 [18 Dec., 1967], No. 58410/68. Heading C3H. A separating medium of a macromolecular character for chemical separations by chromatography comprises in a form suitable for a chromatographic separating process a gelatine which is indispersable in water at temperatures at least as high as 7‹ C., has been hardened chemically, and is permeable to the flow therethrough of a chromatographic mobile phase by the provision of flow passage means or interleading pores passing through the medium. The hardening may be by tannic acid, tannin, formaldehyde or a chromium compound.
