Abstract

1,223,267. Selective signalling. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 21 Aug., 1969 [21 Oct., 1968], No. 49801/68. Heading G4H. Gear coupled two-phase resolvers 3, 4, 5 are controlled sequentially by coarse, medium, and fine signals from a computer, not shown, to position a film strip 1, forming part of a navigation display system. As described, digital coarse, medium, and fine signals C, N, F are fed sequentially under the control of a distributer 20, 21, 22 to a digital-to-analogue converter 13 which produces sine and cosine signals for the resolver. When the error signal from the coarse resolver, which passes via a diode 24 to a threshold circuit 28, has fallen below the threshold level, the distributer advances to its next stage so that the medium signal exercises control. When the medium error is sufficiently low the distributer 20, 21, 22 advances to its last stage so that the fine signal exercises control. When this occurs an electric clutchcontrolled gear 8 is caused to introduce a reduction ratio of 1:150 between the drive motor 2 and the member being controlled.
