Abstract

1,220,844. Consolidating scrap; shearing. S. TOKUSHIMA. 30 May, 1968, No. 25912/68. Headings B3H, B3V and B3W. A scrap consolidating press comprises a pair of cutting-crushing blocks 5, 5<SP>1</SP> pivoted about axes 6, 6<SP>1</SP> which extend across a channel into which the blocks force the scrap. The blocks are moved hydraulically and have cutting blades 4, 4<SP>1</SP> which co-operate with fixed blocks 2 along the channel edges to cut the scrap. Longitudinal and transverse blades 13, 13<SP>1</SP> are provided in each block to mash the scrap. The blocks have an interfitting tongue 11 and recess 12 to provide a continuous horizontal surface in their lower position. An hydraulic ejector ram Fig. 2 (not shown), serves to push the scrap along the channel past a slicing blade 17. The slicing blade and the ram are operated in timed sequence. The press can be used to crush small articles, e.g. cans, oil drums, iron pipes or large articles, e.g. car bodies.
