Abstract

1,218,324. Knitting machines. A. BUCK. 14 Jan., 1969 [3 May, 1968], No. 2054/69. Heading D1C. [Also in Division F2] A lubricating device for oiling and cleaning the needles of knitting machines comprises a compressed air passage 3 with two outlets 5, 9 and an electrically-controlled valve 11-13 which closes either outlet 5 or outlet 9 and also opens and closes oil outlet valves 14 on the oil container 1, one outlet 9 being connected via a tube 10, a pressure chamber 19, a bore 24, and a line 26 to an oil spray nozzle such that both oil and compressed air are supplied to the nozzle during oiling periods, and the other outlet 5 leading to a compressed air blast nozzle for cleaning purposes. Fine bores lead from the passage 3 into the container 1, so that the oil is discharged under pressure through the ducts 15, 23. The oil mixes with the air at the tip (34) (Fig. 2, not shown) of the oil spray nozzle. The valve 13 is operated by an electromagnet, which is controlled by a thyristor and two RC networks.
