Abstract

1,215,980. Hose couplings. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 10 Sept., 1969 [11 Sept., 1968], No. 43179/68. Heading F2G. A hose end fitting comprises a tube 1, one end of which fits rotatably inside another tube 2; an end of one of the tubes fits inside a hose 4 and a sleeve 12 is swaged over the tubes 1, 2 and engages co-operating parts of the tubes, preventing axial separation of the tubes. As shown, the inner tube 1 fits inside the hose 4 and has a series of barbs 3 which retain the hose. Projections 13, 14 on the sleeve 12 engage projections 6, 8 on tubes 1, 2 respectively to axially retain the tubes. A further projection 5 on tube 1 serves to restrict the axial movement of the hose 4 on the tube. A recess 9 in tube 2 contains an 0-ring 10 and a backing ring 11, which may be of P.T.F.E., or a fibrous material, the rings 10, 11 sealing against the outer surface of tube 1.
