Abstract

[Also in Division A5] Phosphorothiolate derivatives of the general formula where R is C 1-5 alkyl, A is C 1-10 alkyl, C 1-3 haloalkyl, alkenyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, alkinyl having up to 6 carbon atoms, phenylthioalkyl having up to 9 carbon atoms, phthalimidoalkyl having up to 11 carbon atoms or phenylalkyl having up to 10 carbon atoms, X is halogen or C 1-5 alkyl, n is 0 or 1 to 5, are prepared by reacting a compound of formula with an alkali metal hydrosulphide of formula M.SH where M is alkali metal, to form a thiophosphate of formula and then reacting the thiophosphate of formula Y.A, where Y is halogen. Compounds where A is C 3 or C 4 alkyl, haloalkyl having up to 3 carbon atoms, alkenyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, alkinyl having up to 4 carbon atoms, phenylthioalkyl having up to 9 carbon atoms, phthalimidoalkyl having up to 11 carbon atoms or C 8-10 phenylalkyl, are claimed per se. The phosphorothiolates have insecticidal properties.
