Abstract
1,206,594. Moisture detectors. BRITISH IRON & STEEL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Dec.19, 1967 [Dec.19, 1966], No.56831/66. Heading G1N. Environmental moisture causes conduction between the exposed parts of two electrodes (11), Fig.1, (not shown) set spaced apart in an insulating block (10), the electrodes being connected (at 20, 21), Fig.2, (not shown) in a transistor trigger circuit which operates a relay (27) when the moisture exceeds a level set by a variable resistor (22) in the circuit. The relay moves a contact (28) to a position (W) in which a lamp (30) and a clock (31) are operated, the latter measuring the duration of the excess moisture level. A recorder is also connected by means of further contacts (67, 68), also Fig.4, (not shown), and comprises a pair of coils (60, 61) forming a solenoid (40), Fig.3, (not shown) whose armature (62) is moved from a first to a second position when the relay (29) operates. The armature carries a pen (42) acting on a paper tape (43) moving at constant speed, to record the duration of the excessive moisture level.
