Abstract
1,202,433. Recording defects in railway track. J. DULTINGER, and L. SCHENKIR. 4 Sept., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966], No. 40392/67. Heading B7N. In a device mounted on a railway car body for measuring and recording either vertical or horizontal defects in railway track, a vibration amplitude meter provides an electrical signal indicative of the vertical or horizontal movement of the car body with respect to a seismic mass forming part of the meter, and this is added, taking account of sign, to an electrical signal indicative of the movement of a point influenced by said vertical or horizontal defects with respect to the car body. Point 7 moves with vertical defects in the track and these movements with respect to the car body 2 are measured by an electric displacement meter 5. The movement of the car body with respect to a seismic mass is measured by vibration amplitude meter 4 and the output of the two meters is combined to give an electrical indication of the movement of the point 7 with respect to the seismic mass and this signal which is a function of the vertical defects is recorded. To avoid very low frequency variations in the zero reading due to vehicle speed variations, superelevation of the track &c. the combined signal is passed to the recorder via a highpass filter 22 of very low cut-off frequency.
