Abstract
1,200,493. Forming voids in cast concrete. T. R. BARRY. 22 May. 1968 [13 July, 1967], No. 32299/67. Heading E1S. A void is formed in a cast concrete article by employing a form comprising a core 11 having an outer covering 12 which is insoluble in liquid concrete, but which can be dissolved, when the concrete has set, by a solvent which does not affect the core, thus allowing the core to be removed and re-used. The core is preferably of metal or wood, the covering expanded polystyrene, and the solvent a paint thinners or petrol. The . form may be arranged to protrude above the concrete surface, or may be fastened to, e.g., formwork for a pillar.
