Abstract

1294553 Devices for initiating spinning in open end spinners ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 28 July 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 36448/70 Heading DID In an open end spinning frame power for the control of the stopping cycle in the event of mains failure is provided by an auxiliary source such as a dynamo or alternator 14, Fig. 1, driven by the momentum of the machine during run out. The stopping cycle comprises the steps of first stopping the feed of fibres and then stopping the withdrawal and winding of yarn while the end is still in the spinning chamber 5. On restarting the yarn is wound back into the spinning chamber 5 after it has started rotating and fibre is being fed in to restart spinning wheieupon normal yarn withdrawal recontinues. The mechanical sequence is operated by electromagnets, and clutches as follows: Fibre feed is controlled by clutch 17 and brake 18, and yarn delivery by clutch 22 and brake 30. Reversal of yarn delivery is achieved by clutch 23 which engages the reverse gear train 24, 25, 26. In the event of an ends down fibre feed is stopped by the disengagement of a clutch 19 (mechanical or electromagnetic) in response to a change in the tension of the yarn 7, the apparatus is reset by means of the lever 36 which operates a tie rod 35 and connects with the control system via a first control unit 38. The shaft 39 of the withdrawing roller 66 projects into a housing 34 containing the mechanism of Fig. 2. This comprises a worm 40 driving a ratchet wheel 41 which when rotating in the reverse direction moves the lever 43 to engage a lever 47 which in turn activates a second control unit 50. This position is maintained by a pawl 49. During stopping of the machine electromagnet 54 is de-energised to release a frame 53, carrying a gear train driven by the worm 40, into engagement with a wheel 35 which turns a lever 56 to engage the pawl 49 and hence release the lever 47. This allows the lever 47 to drop and switch off the second control unit 50.
