Abstract

1293216 Impact pulverizers; comminuting plastics HOSOKAWA FUNTAIKOGAKU KENKYUSHO KK 20 Nov 1970 [1 April 1970] 55306/70 Heading B2A An impact pulverizer comprises a housing 1 and a crushing rotor 3 with vanes 4 surrounded by a cylindrical liner 7 which is composed of segments 12. Each segment is spaced apart by radial passageways 9, which may be inclined, and includes inward projections 8. The passageways communicate with a product exhaust 10. The gap B between the vanes 4 and lines 7 is about twice the desired particle size. In operation synthetic resinous material is supplied via an inlet port 2, and the heat produced during crushing is released via the passageways 9, and crushing temperature is further controlled by adjustment of amount of feed, the aperture size of the passageways 9 and the inlet air temperature. The material is thus maintained just below its softening temperature. In a modification, perforated plates 13 are arranged adjacent the liner segments Fig. 4, or the lines may have alternate projections 8, and depressions 16, provided with holes 15 Figs. 5 and 6.
