Abstract
1288667 Draining flat roofs and terraces; gratings F MONARI 13 July 1970 [15 July 1969] 33857/70 Headings E1C and E1G A water discharge outlet for draining flat roofs and terraces comprises a funnel-like body 11 sunk into a concrete slab 10, an impermeable laminar sealing element 18 overlying the junction between an outwardly directed flange 17 of the body 11 and the slab 10, the element 18 being bent downwardly into the mouth of the body 11, and a gasket assembly for sealing the downwardly bent portion 20 of element 18 against the inside wall portion 16 of the body consisting of upper and lower annular ring members 23, 22 having flanges 23', 22', respectively, between which a gasket 21, is compressed axially, by tightening screws 24 interconnecting the members 23, 22 to cause radial expansion of the gasket. A weir tube 26 may be provided where it is desired to retain a water or other filling on the roof or terrace, this being guided by a beading 27' on a flange 27 of member 23 and being gripped by a gasket 25 which is compressed between the members 23 and 22 when the screws 24 are tightened, to cause it to grip the weir tube. A grating 30 surrounds the weir tube 26 and a cap 32 having legs 35, forming a discontinuous circular dip plate, is fitted over the grating 30. Where the weir tube is omitted (Fig. 2, not shown), the gasket 25 and grating 30 are also omitted and a modified cap in the form of a flat plate (39) having legs (41) which enter the channel formed by annular member 23, to form a discontinuous circular dip plate therein, is used.
