Abstract
1287951 Flexible tube pumps RAINBOW VALVE CO Ltd 12 June 1970 [12 June 1969] 29714/69 Heading F1F In a peristaltic pump, liquid is pumped through a flexible tube 6 by a presser 7 in combination with inlet and outlet pressers 23, 24, each presser squeezing and releasing the tube 6 in sequence, the pressers 23, 24 functioning as non-return valves. The pressers are mounted on spring- pressed levers 11, 25, 26 which are sequentially rocked about a common shaft 12 by rotary cams 17, 29, 30. The output is varied by means of a screw rod 19 engageable with the lever 11 to limit its rocking motion. The presser 7 has a transverse rib 10, which is the only part of the presser which contacts the tube 6 at minimum output. An eccentric 35 on a shaft 36 may be rotated through 180 degrees to act on the levers 11, 25, 26 to disengage all three pressers from the tube 6 to allow removal of the latter from the pump. In another arrangement, Fig. 8, the levers 11, 25, 26 have extensions on the side of the shaft 12 remote from the tube 6 and the cams 17, 29, 30 are arranged to act on these extensions. The tube is released for removal by rotation of cams 45, (46, 47) Fig. 9 (not shown), the cam 45 being profiled to also provide the output variation. To facilitate its removal, the tube 6 may be mounted on a U-shaped former separable from the remainder of the pump, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown).
