Abstract

1285817 Printing apparatus SUMITOMO ELECTRIC INDUSTRIES Ltd 20 May 1970 [27 May 1969 (2)] 24491/70 Heading B6C Wire 1 is printed with figures, letters or signs by intaglio cylinder 2, which is inked by a rubbing contact with slower-moving duct roller 5. Duct blade 7 and doctor blade 4 control the ink supply to cylinder 2 and remove surplus ink respectively, and the gap between the cylinder 2 and roller 2 is adjusted by worm gear rotation of an eccentric mount 8. Ink 26 is applied to reservoir 3 from an auxiliary reservoir 22 each time that passage 25 is uncovered by lowering of the ink level in the reservoir 3, and the supply from the auxiliary reservoir 22 may be cut off by turning of the lock 24, e.g. for replenishment through the inlet closed by stopper 23.
