Abstract

1283037 Fuses ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO Ltd 30 Oct 1969 [8 Nov 1968] 52948/68 Heading H2G A fuselink comprises fusible element(s) 4 disposed between two elongated plates 1, 2, forming a sub-assembly which is inserted in a hollow body 8 and secured by end caps 15, 17. Both plates engage shoulders within the body member, the larger diameter plate 1 that of annular recess 9, and the plate 2 the shoulder of lugs 10 provided with stops 11. The sub-assembly, including tags 3, is inserted in the body 8 and then rotated, the end faces of plate 2 engaging the lug stops 11. Arc quenching material e.g. quartz, may be introduced into the body during or after assembly, in the latter case an aperture is provided in one end-cap being later closer e.g. with a rivet. A trip-indicator 20 loaded by a spring and attached to taut fusible element 22 is disposed within end-cap 1. Extension tags 19 are provided on the end-caps for engagement with a withdrawal tool. The body may be of melamine/phenolic thermosetting resin.
