Abstract
1281876 Cable glands HAWKE CABLE GLANDS Ltd 23 July 1969 [24 Sept 1968] 45266/68 Heading H2E In a cable gland of the kind in which a resilient washer 21 having a groove around its periphery (e.g. of the sort disclosed in Specification 1,037,048 is in use compressed within an annular channel formed between the end surface of a spigot portion 20 of a rigid sleeve 17 and the end surface of a counterbore 16 in a threaded body 10, the said end surfaces diverge radially inwardly of the gland, or, as shown, one of them is normal to the axis of the gland. Washer 21 is clamped around the inner sheath 23 of a cable by a nut 25 which is screwed on to body 10, an internal shoulder 26 of nut 25 being in direct contact with an external flange 18 on sleeve 17. Nut 25 comprises a screw-threaded extension 27 on to which is screwed a flanged nut 29 containing a second washer 28, preferably similar to washer 21 and confined in a similar annular channel, for sealingly gripping outer cable sheath 24.
