Abstract

1280708 Hair cutting appliance PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 Sept 1969 [17 Sept 1968] 45156/69 Heading B4B A dry-shaver comprises a casing 1 having a built-in hair-clipping device 3 pivotally supported so as to be rotatable under the action of a spring 5 between a rest position in which the device is accommodated in a recess 7 in the casing and an operative position in which the clipping device projects from the casing, the device being pivotally supported by means which are constructed to permit displacement of the device relative to the casing in a direction extending transversely of the axis of rotation of the device. The clipping device, which includes a pair of co-operating cutters 10, 11, is provided with pivot pins 8 movable in slots 9 formed in a frame 4 and formed with a tapered end adapted when the device is in the rest position, to engage beneath a lip 12 under the action of the spring 5. The device is released from engagement with the lip by means of a push-button 14 loaded by a spring 13. In modifications, the pins 8 may be fitted in the frame 4 and the slots in the clipping device, and in place of the push-button 14, the device may be provided with a projection or finger recess in order to release the device from the lip 12.
