Abstract

1276052 Pipe joints J L O'BRIEN B FINNIMORE and D J A HOGG 13 July 1970 33951/70 Heading F2G Pipes 26, 27 are joined when the latter is inserted into a socket 28 in the former and a sealing ring 31 is engaged by a gland ring 32 having a flat rear face 33 along which are slidden arcuate wedges 36, (37) whose upper inclined fans slide along ramp faces 38 on the inner side of a socket mouth flange (43). The gland ring 32 has a discontinuous peripheral flange, to permit its insertion through the socket mouth flange (43) which is similarly discontinuous. The sealing ring 31 has a continuous recess around its upper face for the gland ring 32. The arcuate wedges 36, (37) may be of either hand.
