Abstract

1275482 Severing by grinding CARBORUNDUM CO 30 May 1969 [13 June 1968] 54310/71 Divided out of 1275481 Heading B3D The disclosure is substantially identical with that of Specification 1,275,481 but the claims are directed to a cut off machine comprising a base 2, a bed 24 mounted on the base for longitudinal movement relative thereto, and an upstanding guard 4 mounted on the base beside the bed, the guard having an opening 6 for receiving a workpiece W and a slot 112 aligned with the opening 6. An oscillatory frame 34 is mounted on the bed 24 for swinging movement about a horizontal axis 32, and carries an arbor 58 which extends through the slot 112 and in turn carries an abrasive cut-off wheel 60. Means are provided for moving the bed 24 to move the arbor 58 lengthwise of the slot 112 and so move the wheel 60 into or out of the workpiece.
