Abstract
1275354 Composition containing polymerized diethylene glycol diallylcarbonate CARLZIESS - STIFTUNG [trading as JENAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN] 20 Aug 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 40161/70 Heading C3P [Also in Division G2] Compositions containing carbon black and polymerized diethylene - glycol - diallylcarbonate are used in optical filters, and are prepared by polymerizing mixtures of solutions 1, 2 and 3. Solution 1 contains cyclohexyl percarbonate and monomeric diethylene glycoldiallylcarbonate which has been heated to initiate polymerization and the polymerization then stopped by cooling. Solution 2 contains carbon black dispersed in diallyl phthalate; diethylene - glycol - diallylcarbonate and cyclohexyl percarbonate, which has had polymerization initiated as for solution 1. Solution 3 contains 2,2<SP>1</SP>- dihydroxy - 4,4<SP>1 </SP>- dimethoxy benzophenone dissolved in diethylene glycoldiallylcarbonate. All these solutions are storable under refrigeration. By using different ratios of the three solutions, and polymerizing, materials having different optical properties are produced.
