Abstract

1,269,958. Triggering thyristors. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 12 May, 1969 [15 May, 1968], No. 24131/69. Heading H2F. [Also in Division H1] The transformers 14, 15 which supply unidirectional control pulses for the control of main thyristors 1, 2 of the inverter circuit shown in Fig. 1 have at least one winding formed of two coaxial conductors the outer of which (W 3 , Fig. 3, not shown) has its beginning or end connected to the end or beginning of the conductor which it encloses to suppress capacitative currents tending ignite one thyristor when the other is fired. Commutating means comprise capacitor 10, commutating inductors 6, 7, 11 and thyristors 12, 13. Capacitors 8, 9 serve with commutating inductors 6, 7 for smoothing the D.C. voltage and as an energy store for current reversal. A capacitor and a non-inductive resistor may be connection in series across the transformer primary or secondary to prevent oscillations due to the inductances and capacitances of the transformer.
