Abstract
1,268,945. Sulphurization of 2,6-di-t-butylphenol. CONSOLIDATION COAL CO. 30 May, 1969, No. 27458/69. Heading C2C. 4,4<SP>1</SP>-Dithiobis-(2,6-di-t-butylphenol) is prepared by reacting 2,6-di-t-butylphenol with sulphur monochloride in the presence of a catalytic amount of iodine. The reaction is preferably conducted in the presence of an organic solvent at a temperature of from - 50‹ to 30‹ C. A suitable amount of iodine in the reaction mixture is from 0.001 to 0À5 moles per mole of 2,6-di-t-butylphenol.
