Abstract
1,266,962. Analogue/digital converters. MICRO CONSULTANTS Ltd. 30 July, 1970 [5 May, 1969], No. 22703/69. Heading G4H. In an analogue/digital converter of the type comprising a plurality of series-connected stages, each stage includes a full-wave rectifier, a detector, two input terminals for currents ŒI and two output terminals, the detector giving a logic " 1 " or " 0 " output in dependence upon the direction in which current flows through the rectifier. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 inputs +I 1 and -I 1 , the relative polarity of which is determined by the detector D1, are rectified and added to constant current sources - I 2 , + I 2 to feed two output signals { | I 1 | - I 2 } and - { | I 1 | - I 2 } to the next stage. The current sources for successive stages have the value Œ¢I max , +“I max &c. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown) and Fig. 4 each stage includes a differential amplifier TR1, TR3, TR2, TR4 driving a diode bridge circuit D1, D2, D3, D4 which is fed with a fixed offset current I max /2 to give outputs Œ2(|I in -I max /2|).
