Abstract

1,264,458. Counting-apparatus. VEEDER INDUSTRIES Inc. 20 Oct., 1970 [21 Oct., 1969], No. 49743/70. Headings G4A and G4D. A pulse generating apparatus, especially for use as a variator in a liquid-dispensing system, comprises selectors 50-52 settable according to unit price for co-operation with pick-ups on arms 36-38 so that each rotation of a metering shaft shall enter an appropriate value to a cost register 84. As shown, the metering shaft drives a disc 34 with 8, 4, 2, 1 holes uniformly spaced on four concentric circles. Each arm 36-38, Fig. 3, carries four lamps 39-42 which shine through the holes in the disc 34 as it rotates and through any aligned hole 54 in a selector 50-52 to activate a photo-cell 70. The resulting pulses are passed to triggers 94 and one-shot MVs 96 to appropriate denominations of the cost register 84. The price per gallon is indicated at 110-112. Drums (Fig. 4, not shown) may be used instead of cylinders.
