Abstract

1,259,306. Acrylamide polymer compositions. CIBA-GEIGY (U.K.) Ltd. 28 Jan., 1970 [29 Jan., 1969], No. 4906/69. Heading C3P. [Also in Division C1] Compositions for rendering effluent sludges more readily filterable comprise (1) wood flour and (2) a homopolymer of an acrylamide of formula CH 2 = CR 1 CONR 2 R 3 where R 1 is hydrogen or methyl and R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 hydroxyalkyl, or a copolymer of such an acrylamide with acrylic or methacrylic acid, or a water-soluble salt thereof, said polymer being water-soluble. In examples the copolymer comprises acrylamide and 20 weight per cent of sodium acrylate.
