Foamed concrete is made by mixing an aqueous mixture of cement, e.g. Portland cement, material with a preformed foam made by foaming an aqueous -solution containing a fatty acid diethanol amide, a sodium alkyl aryl sulphonate of which the alkyl radical has 10-16 carbon atoms, and a methyl cellulose containing 26-33 wt. per cent methoxy radical. The diethanol amide can be derived from palm oil fatty acid.
