Abstract
1,258,826. Sampling for chromatography. CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED. 8 April, 1969 [9 April, 1968], No. 17886/69. Heading B1X. Samples for chromatographic analysis in column 4 are contained in cartridges 3, e.g. sorbed on ion exchange resin, carried by table 16. Initially eluent is pumped through line 7, duct 9 in spindle 2 and line 11 to column 4. To introduce the sample, pressure head 14 is lowered and spindle 2 rotated anticlockwise, causing eluent to pass in turn through duct 9 and line 13: through cartridge 3, eluting the contents thereof through line 17, duct 9' and line 11 to column 4. Before pressure head 14 is raised, spindle 2 is returned to the position shown; after head 14 is raised, a further sample cartridge may be brought into register. Operation may be mannual or automatic. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a different form of rotary valve having two parallel straight ducts is illustrated.
