Novel bisamides of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are not the same and R 1 is H, alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl, which can be substituted by halogen atoms or nitro groups, and R 2 is alkyl, alkenyl aryl, cycloalkyl, alkylthio, arylthio or cycloalkylthio, which can be substituted by halogen atoms or nitro groups are prepared by reacting the appropriate nitriles or thiocyanates in concentrated sulphuric acid with an equimolar amount of N-(l-hydroxy- 2,2,2-trichloroethyl)amides of the formula
