Abstract

1,248,860. Valves. CENTRE DE RECHERCHES DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. 3 Dec., 1969 [26 Dec., 1968], No. 59027/69. Heading F2V. A butterfly valve comprises a blade 8, mounted on a rotatable journal 6, and a fixed journal 7, and co-operating with a sealing ring 5 located in a recess in an end face which also seals on to a mating pipe flange 1, the dimensions of the ring being such that, when it is compressed between the flange 1 and the valve body 3, during assembly, a gap n remains between the ring and the recess wall 10, and the inner face forms two sealing beads 12, 13 in the closed position of the valve. The face 11 of the recess is formed with beads to retain the seal in position.
