Abstract

1,248,724. Slides. RIV-SKF OFFICINE DI VILLAR PEROSA S.p.A. 2 Feb., 1970 [8 Feb., 1969], No. 4877/70. Heading B3B. [Also in Division F2] A hydrostatic bearing for supporting a slide 2 on a fixed machine part 1 has a recess 3 in the slide, fluid being supplied to a central portion of the recess via a duct 4, 5. A restriction is placed in the duct comprising a plug 9 through which is a central passage 8 communicating on the side remote from the recess with a capillary tube 6. The capillary tube may pass through the plug, and the projecting part may be wound helically in the duct. The plug 9 is threaded and screws into an enlarged portion 11 of the duct 5 so as to facilitate removal of the capillary tube 6 for inspection and replacement. A seal-ring 13 is provided in an annular groove 12 between the duct 5 and the plug 9.
