Abstract
1,240,461. Shuttleless looms. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON Ltd. 11 July, 1968 [11 April, 1967], No. 16520/67. Heading D1E. In a shuttleless loom yarn is taken from a stationary supply bobbin without twist by rotating the bobbin, measured and subsequently stored prior to picking. In one embodiment (Fig. 2) yarn passes around rods 32 which through further rods 32 are displaceable by a slider 34. Yarn is stored in a loop by a weighted pulley 19 slidable between vertical rods 20. In a second embodiment Fig. 3 the yarn 35 is placed in contact with part of a tapered roller 36 by movable guides 37, 38. The yarn is stored in a tube 46 which has a piston 44 acted on by subatmospheric pressure to tension the yarn. The piston 44 has a magnet 48 and detector circuits 49, 50 determine the upper and lower limits of the loop and are linked to the actuator 41 to adjust the yarn guides 37, 38 and adjust the feed accordingly.
