A heating system comprises a heat-storage unit 1, a first fluid circuit 4 for transferring heat from the unit to a heat exchanger 2, a pump P1 having a valve controlled by-pass 8 for varying the amount of fluid flowing through unit 1, a second fluid circuit 6 for transferring heat from the heat exchanger to a conduit 7 containing a fluid to be heated, and a thermostat 11 in the second circuit for controlling the valve 9 in bypass 8. A pump P2 in the second circuit is controlled by a second thermostat 12.
