Abstract

113,688. Day, T., Day, T., and Webb, E. March 17. 1917. Vehicles with removable bodies.-Means for attaching removable bodies to the chassis comprise pin-and-socket devices for positioning the body and simple lever devices for pressing the body firmly down on to the chassis. The positioning-devices may comprise pins c on the front part of the removable body b adapted to enter sockets f on the fixed front part a, and, at the rear, conical pins d on brackets d<1> fixed to the removable body members b engage in holes e<1> in the chassis e. For holding the body securely on to the chassis, there may be disposed at each side of the vehicle, shackles i<3> suspended by hooks h on brackets g fixed to the body members b. A locking-lever j pivoted at k to the chassis e is disposed within the forked part of the shackle i<3> and has a cam-pin m which is forced into engagement with the shackle by movement of the lever.
