Abstract

1,133,859. Oil filter; magnetic separators. TECALEMIT (ENG.) Ltd. 18 Nov., 1965 [18 Nov., 1964], No. 37974/68. Divided out of 1132963. Headings BID and B2J. A filter for the lubricating oil circuit of an I.C. engine comprises an outer, annular, coarse filter element 723 and an inner, pleated, annular fine filter element 722, enclosed between common end caps and perforate tubes 636, 774, .the element 722 being shorter axially than element 723 to leave an annular space 796 through which some liquid passing through element 723 by-passes element 722. The holes in tube 774 are all concentrated near the upper end, so that there is axial flow as well as radial flow through element 723. The whole is enclosed by a housing which screws on to the engine and incorporates an inlet non-return valve 631 and a by-pass valve 742. Element 722 may incorporate by-pass holes with magnetic rings or cross-shaped cuts, as described in Specification 1133858.
