Abstract
1,131,123. Refractory bricks. WEST HUNWICK REFRACTORIES Ltd. 27 Jan., 1967 [4 Feb., 1966], No. 4993/66. Heading F4B. A refractory brick has an oxidizable metal insert of X-shaped cross-section, the limbs of the X extending from the hot to the cold end of the brick. The insert may be of solid, perforated or expanded metal or of metal mesh, and may be welded to a metal casing surrounding the brick, and may be formed of two or more sections welded together, Fig. 6. The limbs of the X may be curved or zig-zag, and two or more inserts of X section may be arranged side by side in a brick.
