Abstract

1,130,876. Clamp fastenings. DOWSON & DOBSON Ltd. 1 Feb., 1966 [1 Feb., 1965], No. 4446/66. Heading E2B. [Also in Division H2] A grommet comprises a sleeve 6, having one end portion 10 of frusto-conical shape and slit like a collet and a screw threaded portion 11 contiguous with the base of said frustoconical end portion; a nut member 7 screwed on to said screw threaded portion and having an annular shoulder of lesser internal diameter than the base of said frusto-conical end portion of the sleeve for engaging and contracting the frusto-conical portion to engage a cable or pipe, and means for securing the grommet in a hole in a supporting structure. In one construction the sleeve is provided with a pair of recesses 9 in an end section 8 which are engaged by a clip to secure the sleeve to the supporting structure. In another construction the sleeve is provided with a head which engages one side of the supporting structure and the sleeve is secured to the structure by a nut which engages the threaded portion 11 and which is additional to the nut member 7. The sleeve and nut member 7 are made of nylon.
